How Chocolate and Coffee Can Make You Happy

Hello my awesome readers!
Have you ever heard the words saying "Chocolate makes you happy" or "Coffee warms your heart"?

Well, in this post, I will be talking about the effect of consuming chocolate and coffee on our mood. Actually, I have posted this on How to Move On and Let It Go as one way to mend your broken heart feeling. But in this post, I want to highlight it more. Chocolate and coffee simply can make you happy. They are mood-booster duo. But is it true that both chocolate and coffee can really influence our mood? To prove it, let’s talk about the scientific things about chocolate and coffee and what they can do with our mood.

Chocolate

Consuming chocolate can affect the amount of serotonin in the brain. This chemical is known for having an effect on mood and is regulated by many anti-depressants. Chocolate contains substances called unsaturated N-acylethoamines that is responsible to activate cannaboid receptors that have the same effects that occur with marijuana consumption, but on a much smaller level. A finding by a Russian chemist in 1841 stated that raw bitter chocolate contains theobromine that is similar to caffeine in coffee. This substance is a stimulant that can make you feel more alert and energetic resulting in greater feeling of happiness.

Coffee

A study conducted by Harvard University published in the World Journal of Biological Psychology states that caffeine in coffee stimulates the central nervous system by increasing the production of neurotransmitters in the brain such as noradrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine. So, it can provide the same effects as a mild antidepressant and not just a stimulant. In other words, coffee can be a powerful drug to release stress. However, the overdose consumption of coffee may reduce your sleep time and could make you twitchy. So, take enough portion.

Maybe you don’t really understand about the chemical terms above, but chemically, chocolate and coffee do have the ability to boost mood. However, consuming both of them in unwisely dosage won't be good for your health. You must know that everything that is 'too much' is never good.
